Team Excelsioar are a local three women crew setting out to row 3,000 miles across the Atlantic to raise money for Thames Hospice and DASH (Domestic Abuse Stops Here).
Organised by the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge the 3,000 mile route leaves San Sebastian in La Gomera, Canary Islands, Spain (28 ‘N 18 ‘W) heading west to Nelson’s Dockyard, English Harbour, Antigua and Barbuda (17 ‘N 61 ‘W).
Team Excelsioar will row 2 hours on 2 hours off, 24 hours a day for as long as it takes to get to Antigua, battling the elements, sea-sickness, dehydration and sleep deprivation to reach our goal. Other things to contend with include, 30ft high waves, storms, hallucinations, salt sores, blisters (on hands, bum, you name it!), the risk of capsize, sharks, and the less than glamorous toilet facilities (a bucket on deck).
To support the team and spread the news, we’ve taken our fantastic Shout Pale Ale and created a distinctive label capturing the crew mid Atlantic. All profits from the sale of EXCELSIOAR cans goes to the team for fund raising.
